This weekend marked the first World Cup leg of the season for Christian. With Cepano Baloubet and Just Be Gentle, he traveled to Verona in northeastern Italy. On Friday, Christian competed in a 5* 150cm class with Just Be Gentle. The pair used this first round of the weekend as a warm-up — Just Be Gentle jumped clear, but a steady round resulted in 4 time faults for the Riesenbeck duo. In the following 5* 155cm class with jump-off, Christian competed with Cepano Baloubet, but one rail down kept them out of the deciding jump-off.
On Sunday, Christian chose the 11-year-old Just Be Gentle for the 5* World Cup. Only seven of the 40 starting combinations managed a clear round and qualified for the jump-off — among them Christian and his Dutch mare. The Riesenbeck pair also stayed clear in the jump-off, securing an excellent third place, just behind Daniel Deusser and Alain Jufer. The next World Cup leg will already take place next weekend in Stuttgart.
Meanwhile, Philipp competed with Karaldo, Oreo D.R., and Corazon K at the CSI4* in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The tournament started on Thursday for Philipp with Karaldo and Corazon K, both jumping clear in the 4* Small Tour over 140cm. In a 4* 150cm class with jump-off, Philipp and Corazon K finished in 9th place. A small mistake unfortunately kept them out of the jump-off, but their fast time still earned them a placing in the biggest class of the day.
This week, Team Beerbaum will first compete at the Late Entry event at their home base in Riesenbeck, before Christian and Philipp head to the World Cup in Stuttgart.
