A very successful weekend lies behind Philipp and his horses in Doha. Already on Thursday, he placed with Aberdeen Z in a 3* show over 1.40m. On Friday, Philipp started Karaldo in the highest prize-money class of the day, a 5* ranking jumping competition over 1.45m. Ten of the 32 combinations were able to finish the demanding course clear, but Philipp and the 11-year-old Karaldo were almost three seconds faster than Abdullah Alsharbatly and Valentino, who finished the class in second place, while Eve Jobs and Kannandillo followed in third place.

Later that evening, another success followed for Philipp and thus for Team Beerbaum. In the Six Bar competition, which consists of a combination of six jumps with two strides in between each, eleven combinations were at the start. In each round the final fence is raised, and any rider who has a fault is eliminated from the competition. Already in round one at 1.50m, only eight combinations remained clear. In round two, another two combinations were eliminated, and after round three, in which the final fence had already reached a height of 1.80m, only Philipp with Lady Concern du Rezidal and the British rider Millie Allen were still clear. In the following round at 1.90m, Philipp decided to spare his mare and did not start again. Millie Allen once again remained clear and convincingly won the Six Bar competition, while Philipp finished in second place.

On Saturday, the show week came to a successful conclusion. In the two-phase competition of the 5* tour, Karaldo once again showed a very convincing performance. In the end, less than one second was missing to the winner, resulting in third place behind Harry Charles and Duarte Seabra. This was followed by the 3* Grand Prix over 1.50m, with 52 combinations at the start. Philipp once again chose the 8-year-old Callao L, owned by Alice Lawaetz, and qualified as one of the eleven clear combinations from the first round for the jump-off. Once again, the Riesenbeck combination stayed clear and delivered another fast time. The clock stopped at 35.17 seconds, and only Abdullah Alsharbatly with Quisandro and Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann with Iron Dames High Level crossed the finish line faster. This meant another placing for Callao L, who has been showing consistently good performances for weeks, and third place for the Riesenbeck combination.

To conclude the weekend, the 5* Grand Prix was still on the schedule, with Philipp starting in the saddle of the 12-year-old Oreo D.R. The twelve best combinations qualified for the second round, including Philipp and Oreo D.R. In the second round, the pair had one rail down, but thanks to their fast time it was still enough for fourth place in the Grand Prix. The victory went to Scott Brash with Hello Jefferson, who had already won the 5* Grand Prix with Hello Mango the previous week.

Our young horses also enjoyed a successful weekend at the nearby show in Damme. On Friday, James competed in a young horse jumping class at level L (110cm) and won the class with the 6-year-old Zinado and a score of 8.6, while placing the 5-year-old Come True de Maya in fifth place with a score of 8.3. Our youngsters were also successful in the following young horse jumping class at level L over 115cm. Ciaran won the second section with the 6-year-old Kadanz van de Krommeweg Z and a score of 8.6. James placed the two 6-year-old horses Havanero Blue and Piet van t’Loo in second and third place of the first section with scores of 8.5 and 8.3.
