Riesenbeck, Twente and Cannes in one week
Riesenbeck
The show week for the riders and horses of the Beerbaum Stables began as early as Tuesday, as our young horses competed on home soil in Riesenbeck. The day started with a placing in the young horse class (105cm) for Ciarán and the 5-year-old Miami, who received a score of 8.3. Our young horses also impressed in the subsequent class (115cm) young horse jumping competition. Conthargo R finished second under Ciarán with a score of 8.6, Donna Stakkata placed fifth with Ciarán on a score of 8.2, and India secured sixth place with James and a score of 8.1. In the young horse class over 120cm, James rode both Piet van t’Loo and Come True de Maya to second place with scores of 8.5, while Donna Stakkata earned another placing, finishing sixth this time with a score of 8.2. In the final class of the day, a 125cm class for 6- to 8-year-old horses, Philipp Schulze Topphoff secured both first and second place in the second division with Ascaro O and Ferrari v/h Sassenbroek Z.
On Wednesday, James dominated the competitions in Riesenbeck with his horses. He won all four classes he competed in that day. In the warm-up class for the Bundeschampionat qualification for 5-year-old horses, James won with Elliot O on a score of 8.6 and also secured second place with the Forlee son Faolo on a score of 8.4. Elliot O impressed once again in the Bundeschampionat qualifier. The son of Epleaser van't Heike, bred by Franz-Georg Ottmann, claimed victory with a score of 8.5. India (Mumbai van de Moerhoeve x Cayado), bred by Martin Vogel, also secured her ticket to Warendorf with James in the saddle. A score of 8.2 earned her third place. Faolo (Forlee x Polydor), also bred by Franz-Georg Ottmann, narrowly missed out on a placing in his second class of the day but nevertheless secured qualification for the Bundeschampionat with a score of 8.0. The action continued with the warm-up class for 6-year-old horses, where James once again dominated. Havanero Blue won the class with a score of 8.5, while Zinado finished fifth with 8.2. In the Bundeschampionat qualifier, Havanero Blue (Hickstead Blue x Quality), bred by Jürgen Pampel, delivered another confident round, which was rewarded with a score of 8.8 by the judges. As a result, he also qualified for Warendorf.
Jumping Schröder – Twente
Philipp S.T. then continued his weekend in the Netherlands, and already on Thursday, Pursa van den Dael delivered a clear round in the 2* Small Tour. In the following 2* Medium Tour class, Najac Vh Kluizebos remained clear and secured the first placing of the weekend in the Netherlands. In the second qualifier for the 1* Grand Prix on Friday, Wilma SEM produced a solid round and finished without faults, narrowly missing out on a placing. However, in Sunday's 1* Grand Prix, Wilma SEM and Philipp again jumped a clear first round and qualified for the jump-off. The pair remained clear there as well and finished in eighth place. In the 2* Grand Prix, Philipp competed with Najac Vh Kluizebos and also qualified for the jump-off. A rail down in the decisive round meant they ultimately finished in 11th place.
Longines Global Champions Tour Cannes
Last weekend, Philipp and Ciarán represented Team Riesenbeck International powered by Horse Gym in Cannes on the French Riviera. The Global Champions League took place on Thursday. Philipp and Oreo D.R. produced a clear round in the first round, securing a place in the top ten and advancing the team to the decisive second round. However, the pair incurred four rails down in round two. Ciarán and Casalla Blue PS, meanwhile, collected five penalty points in the first round but came back with a confident and clear performance in the second round. Nevertheless, a total of 21 penalty points left the team in ninth place overall in Cannes.
In Friday’s 5* jumping class with a jump-off, Oreo D.R. once again demonstrated his quality by qualifying comfortably for the jump-off. The 12-year-old gelding remained clear there as well and was only narrowly beaten by Yuri Mansur and Vitiki. On Saturday, Ciarán and Philipp competed in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix. Riding Megalon K, Ciarán began the course promisingly but had his first rail down at fence four. Despite this setback, Megalon K continued confidently. However, three more rails fell towards the end of the course, and after accumulating 16 penalty points, Ciarán decided not to complete the round. Philipp and Chaquitos PS tackled the demanding course, which only four combinations managed to complete clear, with just one rail down and a fast time. This performance earned them eighth place in the LGCT Grand Prix of Cannes.
There is little time to catch a breath after this busy show week, as the next stage of the Global Champions League already awaits in St. Tropez this Thursday.
