Disappointed Riesenbeck International riders manage to hold on to 5th place

For the second time since 2025, Rabat, the capital of Morocco, is hosting the two show jumping series – the Longines Global Champions Tour and the Global Champions League. At the 15th and penultimate stage of the season, the battle for the top spots in the Global Champions League overall standings is now in full swing. Only this weekend and the last weekend in October at the tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will riders have the opportunity to secure the best places for the Prague Playoffs 2025 (November 20-23).

In the exciting race for the GCL championship, the St. Tropez Pirates celebrated a victory on Friday afternoon ahead of the Rome Gladiators and the Istanbul Warriors. Valkenswaard United (296) leads the table ahead of the Cannes Stars (290) and the Prague Lions (256) going into the final stage.

In the first round, the riders from Team Riesenbeck International, Marco Kutscher with Catelly and Philipp Weishaupt with Oreo D.R., moved into second place with two clear rounds in the 1.50-meter course. Only the St. Tropez Pirates were faster.

As always, the second round was decisive, in which the aim was to complete the 1.60-meter course quickly and without faults. Unfortunately, this did not work out for the Riesenbeck team: Marco Kutscher collected 16 points (8/8), Philipp Weishaupt had one knockdown. This meant that the team finished in a disappointing 11th place, but was still able to hold on to fifth place in the interim standings. Team boss Ludger Beerbaum: “We had another match point, but we couldn't convert it.”
