Shortly after the turn of the year, the 2026 competition season for Team Beerbaum got underway on January, 2nd at the 4* show in Doha. Philipp is spending the first weeks of the new year in Qatar with several horses and contested his first show of 2026 there from January 2nd to 6th. With a clear and fast second phase in the opening competition of the 2* Tour, Philipp, riding Callao L, secured his first placing straight away, finishing sixth.
Success continued on Saturday, as Philipp placed fifth in the 4* Tour with Karaldo and shortly afterwards finished second in the saddle of Callao L. With a very fast round, the pair were only beaten by Britain’s Millie Allen. Further placings followed for Philipp on Sunday. On that day, he picked up a ribbon riding Chaquitos PS in the 4* ranking class over 1.45 m as well as in the 2* Tour with Aberdeen Z.
Callao L, who had already secured placings on both previous days, competed on Sunday in the 2* Grand Prix with jump-off. Fourteen of the 46 combinations qualified for the decisive jump-off, including Philipp and Callao L. With a clear and fast jump-off, the pair finished in third place, just under a second behind the winning combination. Only the two Britons, Oliver Fletcher and Millie Allen, were faster than the pair from Riesenbeck.
A successful first week for Philipp in Doha is now behind us, and as early as January 7th the first classes of the second competition week in Qatar will get underway.
The competition season in Germany also began on January 6th, as two national show days were on the schedule at home in Riesenbeck. Team Beerbaum secured a placing right in the first class. Filippo and the now eight-year-old Comme le Père son Comic finished fourth in a show jumping class over 1.25 m (M*) for six- to eight-year-old horses. In the class over 1.40 m (S*), James was able to place both of his nine-year-old horses, Dia Chapila PS and Trouble Lady EQ Z.
Wednesday was all about the young horses and began with a Young Horse class over 1.10 m for five- and six-year-olds, in which James and the six-year-old Piet van ’t Loo secured victory with a score of 8.7. In the following class (1.15 m) for six- to eight-year-old horses, the seven-year-old Baolo, ridden by Ludger, finished in fifth place. The Balou du Rouet offspring, bred by Franz-Georg Ottmann, also impressed in the subsequent class over 1.25m. With a clear round and a fast time, the pair from Riesenbeck claimed victory in this class.
Next weekend, James will compete at the traditional show in Münster, while Philipp will be riding during the second competition week in Doha.
