The past competition week began for Team Beerbaum with the Late Entry at their home base in Riesenbeck, where young horses took center stage on Tuesday and Wednesday. The very first class already brought a victory for Team Beerbaum: Philipp H. and the 4-year-old son of Forlee out of a Polydor mare won the Youngster class over 105cm with a score of 8.6. After Forlee himself impressed the previous weekend in the Youngster Tour in Hamburg, his first offspring are now showing success in the sport as well.
In the subsequent Youngster class over 115cm, Agassi WS and Alibaba, both ridden by James, placed second and third with scores of 8.3 and 8.2, respectively. In the Youngster class over 120cm, Ludger and Irish Coffee du Pehou took second place, while James and Oberon came third. Conrad, ridden by Philipp H., also placed in both of these classes.
To round off the first day in Riesenbeck, the 7-year-old Cee Kay ridden by Christian took second place in a jumping competition* for 6–8-year-old horses over 125cm with a fast and clear round. The 7-year-old Zodiak by Zinedine also brought home a ribbon from this class.
On Wednesday, the qualifications for the German Young Horse Championship took place. In the class for 5-year-old show jumping horses, Zados R, ridden by Ciaran, qualified with a score of 8.2. Circle of Friends, with Philipp H., placed fourth in the warm-up class for 6-year-olds with a score of 8.1, but did not start in the qualifier as he had already secured his ticket to the German Young Horse Championship. In the same age category, Philipp H. was able to recommend Conrad for Warendorf.
From Thursday to Sunday, Christian continued on to Cannes, where he and Team Riesenbeck International powered by Horse Gym secured 7th place in the Global Champions League. In the first round, Chageorge delivered a convincing clear round, which was rewarded with a placing in the individual ranking of the class. In the Longines Grand Prix of Cannes, luck was not on Christian and Just Be Gentle’s side: at the final jump of the course, the rail came down, costing them a top result despite an otherwise confident ride through the challenging course under floodlights.
At the same time, James and Ciaran were competing nearby in Borken at Marcus Ehning’s facility. On Saturday, the 7-year-old Cazaan’s Cecotto B won his class over 130 cm, and on Sunday the pair finished seventh in a two-phase class over 135 cm. Ciaran won this class riding Ogana Sitte SR, finishing almost three seconds ahead of the runner-up. In a two-phase class over 140 cm, James and Krokant brought home second place, with Philipp W. and Callao L finishing in fourth place.
It was a successful show week for Team Beerbaum, and now we look forward to the next leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour, which will take place this weekend in St. Tropez. Representing Team Riesenbeck International powered by Horse Gym, Christian and Philipp W. will be competing at the french riviera.
