While Ciarán was once again competing with the Team Riesenbeck International last weekend, Philipp W. and Philipp S.T. started at the international 3* show in Lichtenvoorde. James and Filippo competed at a national show in nearby Lingen at the same time.
Longines Global Champions Tour in St. Tropez
For Ciarán, the competition weekend began already on Thursday with the Global Champions League. Together with Christian Kukuk, he represented the team in France. Riding Casalla Blue PS, Ciarán delivered two clear rounds in the GCL and played a key role in securing the stage win for Team Riesenbeck International in St. Tropez. A report on the GCL stage can be found here: Team Riesenbeck International wins the GCL in St. Tropez
On Friday, Ciarán continued his success from the previous day. This time aboard Megalon K, he secured victory in the 5* 1.50 m class with jump-off. Although 16 of the 43 starters qualified for the jump-off, Ciarán and Megalon K prevailed against strong competition and won the class ahead of Katrin Eckermann and Cedric Angot. Since Casalla Blue PS had already delivered outstanding rounds in Cannes and St. Tropez over the past two weeks, Ciarán decided to rest the 10-year-old mare and not start in the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of St. Tropez. He therefore ended the weekend in the south of France with his first Global Champions League victory and the win in the most highly endowed class on Friday.
CSI3* Lichtenvoorde
In the Netherlands, the team already achieved its first placing on Wednesday. Riding Ascaro O, Philipp S.T. stayed clear and finished seventh in the 1* Medium Tour. In the 3* Small Tour on Thursday, Cortez FZ delivered a clear round as well and was also placed. On Friday, the 7-year-old Belice, ridden by Philipp W., jumped clear in the qualifier for the 1* Grand Prix and secured a placing. Philipp W. was also placed in the 3* Medium Tour, this time with the 10-year-old Kilmister, finishing 13th. Just behind him, in 14th place, followed Philipp S.T. with Najac Vh Kluizebos. On Friday evening, Philipp W. stayed clear with Callao L in the qualifier for the Grand Prix and qualified for the jump-off. The 9-year-old Callao L, who has been consistently producing strong results in recent weeks, went on to win the jump-off against eight other combinations and secured another victory. In the 3* Grand Prix on Sunday, Philipp W. chose Kilmister, but the pair had one fence down. Thanks to their fast time, they still secured eighth place.
Lingen
In nearby Lingen, James once again dominated with his young horses. In the young horse class (120cm), the 6-year-old Zinado impressed the judges and won the class with a score of 8.4. With a score of 7.9, the also 6-year-old Piet van t’ Loo finished second. In the class over 125cm, Filippo and Cazaan’s Cecotto B brought home a ribbon. James and Coffee Shock finished fourth in the 140cm class for young horses on Sunday. The 8-year-old son of Cornet Obolensky had one rail down but was still rewarded with a placing thanks to the fastest time in the class. In the afternoon, James rode Elzandor Z in the S** class with jump-off (145cm). Eight combinations qualified for the jump-off, including the Riesenbeck pair. They also went clear in the jump-off and finished fourth overall.
We look back on a successful weekend for Team Beerbaum and are already looking forward to the next events. Next weekend, Philipp W. will travel to the next stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour in Paris, while James, Philipp S.T., Ciarán, and Filippo will compete in nearby Steinhagen.
In just one month, the home stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour will already take place. Tickets can now be booked at tickets.riesenbeck-international.com.
