Last weekend, Philipp W. competed at the Longines Global Champions Tour in Monaco with his horses. Together with his brother Max Weishaupt and Marco Kutscher, Philipp represented Team Riesenbeck International in Monte Carlo.
The same trio had already competed for the team two weeks earlier in Paris, where Max and Marco secured Team Riesenbeck International's second consecutive victory in front of the Eiffel Tower. While Max and Marco once again rode for the team in Monaco, Philipp competed with Oreo D.R. in Thursday's individual qualifier for the Grand Prix. Delivering a fast and clear round, the pair finished in second place, narrowly beaten only by Switzerland's Martin Fuchs. Their performance also secured Philipp a place in Sunday's Grand Prix.
On Friday, Oreo D.R. produced another confident clear round in the day's highest-prize class, qualifying for the jump-off. Philipp and Oreo D.R. recorded the fastest time in the jump-off, but a rail dropped them back to sixth place.
For Saturday's Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Monaco, Philipp chose to ride the 13-year-old Chaquitos PS. Once again, he qualified for the jump-off with a faultless first round. However, after a refusal in the jump-off, Philipp decided not to continue the course. The pair ultimately finished ninth in the Grand Prix, rounding off the weekend with another top-ten placing.
In just two weeks, the Longines Global Champions Tour comes to Riesenbeck for its home leg. Tickets are available online via the ticket shop or can be purchased at the box office.
