Last weekend, Philipp Weishaupt travelled north to the show at “Erdbeerhof Glantz” in Hohen Wieschendorf. At the same time, Ciaran and James competed in Nienberge-Schonebeck at a national show at the Geßmann equestrian facility.

On Wednesday, the 7-year-old Belice with Philipp W. delivered a confident performance in the Youngster Tour in Hohen Wieschendorf and produced a clear round. In the first qualifier for the 2* Grand Prix, Mastermind RL also delivered a clear round, but the time was not enough for a placing. In the second qualifier on Friday, the 12-year-old gelding by Mylord Carthago HN again stayed clear, but once more the time was not sufficient to bring home a ribbon.

The highlight of the weekend in the north took place on Sunday. In the 4* Grand Prix, Philipp W. chose the 9-year-old Lady Concern du Rezidal, who secured qualification for the jump-off with a confident round in the first phase. Only five of the 50 starters managed to complete the demanding course clear and advance to the jump-off to compete for the win. The rider Ales Opatrny, representing the Czech Republic, took the lead with the only clear round in the jump-off up to that point and a time of 43.33 seconds. However, Philipp W. and Lady Concern du Rezidal also stayed clear, and the clock stopped at 43.16 seconds. This meant a narrow victory for the Riesenbeck pair in the 4* Grand Prix of Hohen Wieschendorf.

On Friday in Nienberge-Schonebeck, our young horses competed and impressed in the young horse classes. In the class over 100cm, the 5-year-old India (Mumbai van de Moerhoeve x Cayado) placed fourth under James with a score of 8.2. In the following class (110cm), Faolo (5-year-old / Forlee x Polydor) under James secured the win with a score of 8.7. With 8.5, the 6-year-old Conthargo R under Ciaran finished third, the 5-year-old Zafiro by Zinedine placed fifth with a score of 8.3 also under Ciaran, and the 5-year-old Elliot O also earned a ribbon with James and a score of 8.2. Faolo with James and Zafiro with Ciaran also impressed in the following class (120cm) and placed with scores of 8.4 and 8.3.

A successful weekend both for Philipp W. at the 4* show in Hohen Wieschendorf and for our young horses. Next, we look ahead to two national show days in Riesenbeck, before Philipp W. and Ciaran travel to Cannes for the next stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour.
